Here's a list of Frequently Asked Questions
What will I need to send for a mix or master?
Once you've decided that you want to move ahead and get your song professionally mixed or mastered there's a few things you have to do. First, and most importantly, make sure you have your files. For a Master you will need a Stereo .wav file of your completed mixdown with no processing on the final stereo bus (no plug ins enabled on the master track). For a mixdown you will need each individual track file (seperate files for each element in the song: kick drum, snare drum, guitar, vocal, etc. etc.).
If you are a self-produced artist, you'll need to open your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and export the files. For a mixdown, you'll need to export each individual track as it's own .wav file. Each individual DAW has it's own way of doing this, but they're all fairly similar. (A quick search online for how to export track files from your DAW will help get you the information you need. Some of the more popluar DAWs are listed here. Just click on the name of your DAW . : Logic Pro, Reaper, FL Studio, ProTools, Luna, StudioOne, Ableton Live,)
Once you have your files, you can go to the Book A Mix or Book A Master form here on the site. Fill out the form, click Submit and follow the directions in the pop up window. When you click on the headphone icon in the pop up window it will take you to a file uploader where you can either select or drag and drop your files. If you need any assistance, email us here.
How long will my mix take?
Each song is different but on average, we can have a first draft ready for your review within 3-4 days. This is a rough estimate of course, and actual turn around times may vary depending on the number and quality of tracks in your project and how many projects we have in line before yours. Rest assured we will reach out and contact you throughout the process to keep you informed on the status of your project.
What's a security watermark?
Security watermarks are intentional and obvious defects in the audio track placed intentionally to prevent use of an unfinished mix or master. During the revision process these are inserted at various places so as to make the file undesirable in it's current condition. It could be brief moments of silence, voiceovers, or drops in volume. Watermarks wont get in the way of the revision process and will be removed completely upon project finalization.
Can't I just use A.I. to master my track?
A.I. is capable of doing many things and, yes, you can get a Master of your song using A.I. technology. What A.I. can't do is connect with you on a human level. It's not going to have a conversation with you about what you want for your track. A.I. wont answer the email you send at 2 in the morning after you listen to the latest revision and decide that the previous version was indeed your favorite. A.I. wont ask (or care) who your favorite artist is and more importantly, why. A.I. doesn't care about where you're planning on releasing your song or if it doesn't sound like it belongs with the songs that play before or after it on a playlist. A.I. doesn't care if your song gets skipped, so it's going to rely on an algorythm to master your song like all the other songs it's mastered in the same genre. If you're ok with that then , sure, you can use A.I. to master your track.
